Montecillo Rioja Blanco Barrel Fermented
£12.94
The wine is a blend of Viura grown from 60 year old vines in the Rioja Alta, Tempranillo Blanco grown from soils with higher clay content and Sauvignon Blanc from the cooler easterly part of the D.O. Hand harvested, each grape variety is vinified separately. The first stage of fermentation takes place in egg shaped tanks, the wine then completes fermentation in gently toasted Allier French oak barrels. Battonage takes place every two days for a five month period prior to blending. A vibrant, expressive nose displaying passion fruit and grapefruit, white flowers and citrus. Creamy-textured with plenty of toast and brioche notes. Soft acidity is balanced with a ripe, fruity character that lingers on the finish.
