Chateau Musar 2016

£46.40

Bekaa Valley, Lebanon
The legendary winery of Château Musar is a story that has its roots in the cradle of viticulture, that is, in the Lebanese Bekaa Valley, where the most ancient testimonies of wine production meet, bringing us back to the wines of almost six thousand years ago. We are precisely in Lebanon, a few tens of kilometers east of Beirut, the capital. The scenario is that of a place particularly suited to the production of great wines, discovered and somehow “built” thanks to the intuitive genius of Gaston Hochar. The latter, in 1930, after a long journey in the French region of Bordeaux to the discovery of the prestigious Bordeaux labels, returned with the conviction that in Lebanon the climatic conditions and the compositions of the land would allow him to produce equally important wines
A deep crimson even blood red colour with an intense and complex nose of spicy red fruits, cedar with deeper plum notes. Generous red and black fruits follow through to the palate combined with Christmas cake spices, figs, dates and stewed plums. Good acidity, silky tannins with a rich fruited palate end with a long promising finish.
